Shelter guidelines vary by county, and only certain shelters will be able to accommodate individuals with special needs. Other shelters will be designated to accommodate animals. In counties within The Freedom ENC coverage area, opening of shelters will be announced by Emergency Management Coordinators and the Red Cross. That information will be published on www.enctoday. com, www.jdnews.com, www. newbernsj and www.kinston.com as soon as it is released.
