Self Sabotaging – Why are You Not Living Life on Your Terms?

Have you ever sat down and said to yourself “This is not the life I ordered!”? Be honest. We all have at one time or another. But have you thought about why you are not living life the way you want? Are you just going through life putting one foot in front of the other with your head hanging down with no direction or road map for success? Utilizing my 5 steps below you will be able to pinpoint time zappers, add focus and clarity to your goal accomplishment, overcome fear, and develop a system to live life on your terms.

 

1. Time Zappers: Where are you spending your time? Do you spend most of your day checking emails, text messaging, and running errands for everyone else? How much of your day is spent doing what you want to do or need to do? Set aside a certain time each day devoted to checking and following up on email. Do not read emails each time you hear the “You have mail” announcement. People often lose track of time while reading and forwarding emails. They start reading other advertisements and news stories and what should have been a two minute task zapped away an hour or two. Email is a time zapper; set aside specific times each day to read and respond to emails.

2. Loss of Focus: Do you even stop and think about what you want to do? Do you keep a schedule or day planner so you can see what needs accomplished each day? You must start each day knowing what you need to get accomplished and how you are going to do it. Do not go to work or sit at your desk without a road map of what you are going to get accomplished. Ask yourself “What is my purpose for being here?” If you don’t know then you need to clarify your job duties and goals.

3. Lack of Clarity: Do you not know how to get what you want or how to reach your goal? In order to live life on your terms and have the life you ordered you must have a plan. It must show the steps necessary to reach your goal. You must know what you need to do.

4. Fear: Is fear holding you back? Fear can keep you paralyzed in your present situation or it can propel you to take action. Self reflection will aid in helping you figure out why you are not taking action. Fear of success, failure, and loss of friends can keep you stuck. Let fear propel you to take action NOW.

5. No System: Do you have a system in place to accomplish your daily tasks and get you closer to accomplishing your goals? A home or business run without systems in place is like owning a car without tires. You need to have a plan, blue print, or system in place so you know what you are doing and how you are allocating your time so you can turn your dreams into reality.

 

Stop self sabotaging yourself by identifying time zappers. Get focused and clarify your goals and dreams. Let fear propel you into taking action and develop a system to get you the life you ordered. Now is the time to invest in YOU so you can have the life you ordered.
