Carteret Writers Hosts Award Winning Editor
Writers know the trials and joys involved in getting their work published. What is it like on the other side of the desk?
James Minor, Assistant Managing Editor of the Carteret County News-Times and editor of their Coastal Living section, will address Carteret Writers on January 13, 2009 at Golden Corral in Morehead City. His presentation will cover the highs and lows of publishing from an editor's point of view. What does he look for in a submission? What sections of the News-Times are open to freelancers? How can a freelancer stand out from the crowd?
In 2006, Minor captured the first place award in Criticism in Community Newspapers from the N.C. Press Association.
The "Dutch treat" lunch begins at 11:15 and the program starts at noon. There is no program fee. Anyone interested in writing is welcome.
Founded in 1983, Carteret Writers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating camaraderie between writers and promoting the art of writing. Besides monthly meetings held on the second Tuesday of the month, smaller genre critique group meetings are available to members.
