Sneads Ferry People team up for a day of helping

All over town, everywhere you looked you could see people wearing blue shirts on Saturday, April 25th, and they all seemed to be doing something! Conservative estimates say that about 230 men, women and children spread out all over Sneads Ferry to patch roofs, mow lawns, clean yards, landscape the elementary school and Senior Center and more as part of an annual local project to team up workers with jobs needing to be done.

What was it that made all these people join together? It is a simple workday concept called "Operation Inasmuch" when church familes team up to provide needed services to anyone who asks for them in town. This year was the town's second such workday, and the effects were amazing! Many local businesses pitched in to help provide supplies and materials, as well as drinks and a lunch for the workers. One team cleared debris from the yards of several elderly couples. I saw children putting donated quarters in the laundromat machines for patrons. I saw one team removing a tree from a yard. I saw a team cleaning car windows, and the Highway Patrol even helped out checking carseats for proper installation.

I wish you could have seen the joy each worker recceived, just beccause of the chance they got to help someone. That part was where the real story could be told! Good news is sometimes hard to come by, but it was certainly heard in Sneads Ferry last weekend!
