Jessica Hurst of Jacksonville and Roger A. “Jay” Ahlquist Jr. of Swansboro were united in marriage on Dec. 3, 2011, at Swansboro United Methodist Church in Swansboro. The Rev. Ed Gunter performed the 4 p.m. ceremony. The wedding was directed by Gwen Jackson-Peel. Music was provided by organist, Michael Taylor.

The rehearsal dinner was held at the Ice House Waterfront Restaurant in Swansboro.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Edward Hurst Jr. of Jacksonville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Frances A. Booth of Jacksonville.

The groom is the son of Ms. Marjorie Ahlquist of Wilmington and Mr. and Mrs. Roger A. Ahlquist of Clayton.

The bride was attended by maid of honor Melinda Zinni of Fort Myers, Fla., and matron of honor Christy B. Bridgers of Wilmington. Junior bridesmaid was Marianna Ahlquist, the groom’s daughter, of Swansboro.

The groom chose his son, William Ahlquist of Swansboro, as his best man. Groomsmen were Grant Gore of Wilson and Holden Reaves of Fayetteville. Ushers were Jason Kelly, Trey Mason, Erik Sandstedt, Mark Robinson and Corby Slaughter.

Candle lighter was Lacey Tucker. Register attendant was Holly Tucker and program attendant was Julianna Tucker.

The wedding reception was held at the Swansboro Rotary Civic Center and was directed by Judy Hailey.

The bride is employed with investor services at First Citizens Bank.

The groom is also employed with First Citizens Bank.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to Grand Cayman.

They reside in Swansboro.
