Ballard-Bachenheimer

Mr. and Mrs. Garland Ballard of New Bern, NC are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Dorsey Ballard to Aaron Howard Bachenheimer of Chapel Hill, NC, son of Ms. Paula Easton and the late Mr. Christopher Easton of Pittsboro, NC, and Dr. Steven and Margaret Bachenheimer of Carrboro, NC.

Dorsey is the granddaughter of Mrs. Agnes Derda and the late Mr. Cletus “Red” Derda and the late Mr. and Mrs. Garland Ray Ballard.

Aaron is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Allen Mills and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bachenheimer.

Dorsey graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State University in 2007. She then completed a year of service as a college counselor with AmeriCorps in Austin, Texas. She is currently employed as the Student Services Coordinator at the UNC School of Law.

Aaron is a 1996 graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree is Communications, a 2000 graduate of Miami University (OH) with a MS in College Student Personnel, and is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration from North Carolina State University. He previously served as Assistant Dean of Students at Hampden-Sydney College and Assistant Director of the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership at Appalachian State University. He is currently employed as a Graduate Assistant by the University of North Carolina in the Division of Student Affairs and serves as Associate Director of Carpe Diem, a private non-profit alcohol education provider for college students.

The wedding is planned for November 5, 2010, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
