Beddard-Eakes

Melissa Lynn Beddard and Bradley Brooks Eakes, both of Washington, were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009, at the historic site of Bonner Point in Bath. The Rev. Donald Ribeiro performed the double-ring ceremony.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Woody and Lisa Beddard of Snow Hill.

She is the granddaughter of Nancy Jernigan of Snow Hill and the late James Guy Jernigan, and Stewart Beddard of Snow Hill and the late Sue Beddard.

A 2008 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in hospitality management and a minor in business administration, she is employed with ECU.

The groom is the son of William Brooks and Terri Eakes of Greenville.

He is the grandson of the late Claude and Irene Carraway, who lived in Snow Hill; and the late William Casper and Louise Eakes, who lived in Farmville.

A 2006 graduate of ECU with a BS in recreation and park management and a concentration in commercial recreation and tourism, he is employed with Tar Heel Amusements and The Pool Table Shop of Greenville.

After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple resides in Ayden.

The bride wore an ivory Casablanca dress with gold thread that was fully beaded, covered with lace and accented by a double V neckline with a dropped waistline and chapel-length train. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of purple and white hydrangeas, bells of Ireland and curly willow.

Maid of honor was Allison Hope Phelps of Greenville.

Bridesmaids were Laura Diane Graham of Lake Alfred, Fla.; Kristen Lynne Welborn of Greenville; Andrea Carroll Pippin of Mount Olive; and the bride’s sister-in-law, Candace Holloman Beddard of Snow Hill.

The bride’s niece, Aubrey Jaymes Beddard of Snow Hill, was flower girl.

The groom’s father served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Richard Duane Dennison of Maricopa, Ariz.; Spencer Keith Letchworth of Greenville; Sterling Bryan Pippin of Mount Olive; and the bride’s brother, Russell Allan Beddard of Snow Hill.

Ring bearers were the bride’s cousin, Tyler Guy Jernigan of Snow Hill, and the groom’s cousin, Jacob Hunter Holloman of Greenville.

Music was provided by Joseph Smith of Ayden and Deedra Wood of Snow Hill, vocalists.

Registry attendants were the bride’s cousin, Amber Nicole Heath of Snow Hill, and David Lee Drach Jr. of Greenville.

Program attendants were the groom’s cousins, Samantha Lauren Johnson and James Alton Johnson of Selma.

The wedding was directed by the bride’s cousin, Kathy Rouse Wall of Garner.

 

Reception/parties

Immediately following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception and dance at the Washington Civic Center in Washington. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Holloman of Farmville and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rouse of Garner.

The wedding cake was made by the maid of honor, Allison Phelps. It was served by Faye Keen of Maury. Entertainment was provided by the Jupiter Jones Band.

On June 27, an engagement party was given by the couple’s parents at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Woody Beddard.

On July 22, a Pampered Chef wedding shower was given by Jackie, Michelle and Danielle Jernigan.

On Aug. 8, a miscellaneous wedding shower was given by Terri Eakes, Mary Lou Little and Mary Holloman at Wesley United Methodist Church fellowship hall.

On Aug. 30, a miscellaneous wedding shower was given by the women of Ormondsville Original Free Will Baptist Church.

Sept. 11-13, the bridal party enjoyed a couple’s retreat weekend at Emerald Isle.

On Sept. 12, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was given by the mothers of the couple at The Beaufort Grocery in Beaufort.

On Oct. 17, a honey-do shower was given by Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Albritton, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Heath, Mr. and Mrs. Buster Heath, Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Howell, Mr. and Mrs. David Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Beddard, and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Stepps, all of Snow Hill.

On Oct. 30, a lingerie shower was given by Allison Phelps and Kristen Welborn at The Daily Grind in Greenville.
