Cindy Byrd of Vanceboro and Allen Byrd of New Bern announce the engagement of their daughter, Nicole Robyn Byrd of New Bern, to Chris Edward Elks Jr. of Vanceboro.

The bridegroom-elect is the son of Sandra and Chris Elks of Vanceboro.

The bride-elect attended West Craven High School and is currently attending East Carolina University.

The bridegroom-elect attended West Craven High School and is employed by PotashCorp in Aurora.

A wedding is planned for June 11, 2011, at Faith Assembly of God in Winterville.
