Jones-Capps

Joanna Rae Jones of Kinston and James Robert Capps of Benson were united in marriage at 3 p.m. Dec. 19, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Kinston. The Revs. Robert Capps and Chuck Towery officiated the ceremony.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Durwood and Debbie Jones of Kinston.

She is the granddaughter of Lunette Hudson of Dunn and the late M. W. Hudson; and Rachel Jones of Four Oaks and the late Melton Jones.

The bride is a 2005 graduate of Kinston High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in theater from Campbell University in 2009.

The groom is the son of Robert Capps and Sharon Capps of Hendersonville.

He is the grandson of Raymond and Margie Capps, and William and Mary Capps, all of Hendersonville.

A 2004 graduate of Chatham High School, he received a B.A. in mass communications from Campbell University in 2008.

He is an Airman First Class with the United States Air Force.

Following a brief wedding trip, the couple resides in Yorkshire, England.

The bride wore a formal ivory lace gown with a sweetheart neckline, cap sleeves, a keyhole back and satin sash waistline. The chapel-length train flowed from a sheer tulle overlay at the shirt.

Her two-tiered ivory fingertip veil was made of bridal illusion. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of winter white hydrangeas and white roses, accented with winter greenery and silver ribbon. To compliment the ensemble, she wore her grandmother’s cameo necklace.

Maid of honor was Leslie Spence of Stella.

Bridesmaids were Andrea Alexander of Hollis; Elessa Butler of Greenville; Angela Bluhm Jones of Abingdon, Md.; and Emily Sanders of La Grange.

Honorary bridesmaid was April Viverette of Rocky Mount.

The bride’s niece, Lilly Marie Jones of Arroyo Grande, Calif., was flower girl.

The groom’s brothers, Paul Capps and William Capps of Meadow, were best men.

Groomsmen were the bride’s brothers, Justin Jones of Abingdon, Md., and Nathan Jones of Raleigh; Alton Stainback of Henderson; and Adam Hicks of Goldsboro.

Music was provided by Katherine Dennis, violinist; and Tomoko Kato pianist. Vocalists were Courtney Raynor and Christopher Morrow of Buies Creek.

Lynn Edwards directed the wedding.

Register attendants were Kelly Gregory and Carrie Cleveland. Program attendants were Sara Potter and Kyndall Eskins.

Reception/parties

Following the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride’s parents at Falling Creek Country Club. The bride’s brother, Nathan Jones, was the DJ. Reception servers were Kathy Tucker, Susan Pope, Rose Madre, and Tony and Glenda Alcock.

On Nov. 7, a shower was given by family and friends in the Trinity Baptist Church fellowship hall in Meadow.

On Nov. 21, a girls’ weekend was hosted by Leslie Spence and Elessa Butler.

On Dec. 12, a shower was given by the Heart to Heart class at First Baptist Church.

On Dec. 18, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was given by Kathy Tucker and Rose Madre at Our Picnic Basket.

On Dec. 19, a rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents in the First Baptist Church fellowship hall.
