Why Go to an Urgent Care Center?

Most Americans are healthy, active adults with only an occasional need for treatment at a medical facility for an injury or illness. Urgent Care centers are designed to accommodate the needs of generally healthy, busy individuals who need efficient, quality medical care when faced with non-life threatening emergencies. Urgent Care centers accept walk-in patients, a major convenience when an appointment is not available at a primary care physician's office.

Although Urgent Care centers treat many problems that can be diagnosed in a primary care physician's office, they also offer services that typically are not available in physician's offices, such as X-ray facilities to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of minor fractures or sprains. They also offer on-site laboratory services to expedite the results of any blood work that needs to be administered. In addition, Urgent Care centers treat minor to moderate level trauma injuries and illnesses.

The providers at these clinics are highly qualified medical specialists who see patients of all ages. In most instances, they are board-certified in family practice or emergency medicine and focus on acute, episodic illnesses or injuries. They do not provide long-term management of care, but do, however, refer patients to the appropriate specialist or primary care physician if a more extensive treatment plan is needed. This helps ensure that patients receive quality health care coverage both during and after the Urgent Care visit.

In addition to providing an invaluable service to health care consumers, Urgent Care centers offer significant savings to both patients and insurance companies when compared with visits to hospital emergency departments. Wait times at Urgent Care centers are minimal and they offer the convenience of extended hours even on weekends and most holidays. Your visit to the Urgent Care center will provide you with the level of service you need in a professional, efficient manner.

CCHC Urgent Care is now open in its new location on Medial Park Avenue, across from The Sun Journal.
