Child hit by car

A 2-year-old child was hit by a vehicle today between New Bern and Vanceboro.

The child, whose name was not available, was transported to Craven Regional Medical Center and then to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. on private property at 115 Lariat Circle, said Trooper Curtis Toler of the State Highway Patrol.

Toler said the incident is still being investigated.
