Ciccone, Merritt

Rebecca Deane Merritt and Michael Joseph Ciccone, both of Charlotte, were united in marriage on May 16, 2009, on Ocean Isle Beach. The Rev. Robert Block performed the 5 p.m. ceremony. The wedding was directed by Traci McDonald. Music was provided by guitarist, Doug Fank; and flutist, Mitzi Goodie.

The bride is the daughter of John and Barbara Merritt of Jacksonville. She is the granddaughter of George Hankovich of Hubert and the late Mary Hankovich and the late John and Kitty Merritt.

The groom is the son of Jim and Maryann Ciccone of Matthews. He is the grandson of Mary Martino of Matthews and the late Joseph Martino Sr., and the late Benson and Dorothy Wittmann.

The rehearsal dinner was held at the Silver Coast Winery in Ocean Isle Beach.

The bride was attended by matron of honor Nicole Johnson of Hampstead. Bridesmaids were Nicole Hankovich of Wilmington; Laura Newsome of Pineville; Pam Spell of Raleigh; and Isabella Ciccone of Indian Trail. Flower girls were Addison Spell and Sofia Ciccone.

The groom chose his brother, James Ciccone III of Indian Trail as his best man. Groomsmen were Andrew Greenlees of Charlotte; Mo El-Maadawy of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Jason Newsome of Pineville; and Dominic Ciccone of Indian Trail. Ring bearers were Gavin Newsome, Luke Newsome and Colby Johnson.

Readers were Jennifer Clatworthy and Nicholas Gust. Program attendant was Alexis Wittman.

The reception was held at the Isles Restaurant in Ocean Isle Beach and was directed by Libby Reding.

The bride graduated from Jacksonville High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is employed in the marketing department at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.

The groom graduated from Sun Valley High School and Appalachian State University. He is a branch manager at Woodforest National Bank.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

They reside in Charlotte.
