Maher-Taggart

Catherine Grace Maher and Edward Christian Taggart, both of Raleigh, were united in marriage on Sept. 12, 2009, at River Dunes Chapel in Oriental with the Rev. Walter Edmunds officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Susan Bland Maher of New Bern and Michael Edward Maher of New Bern, and the granddaughter of Lucy Maher of Havelock, the late Stephen F. Maher and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Bland.

The bridegroom is the son of Dave and Mary Ellen Taggart of Frederick, Md., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Taggart and the late Mr. and Mrs. Gus Pauls.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

Nuptial music was provided by bagpiper Robert J. White.

Maid of honor was Carrie Leigh Maher of Munich, Germany, sister of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Julie Carpenter, Emily Shoemaker and Amy Wilkinson, all of Raleigh.

Best man was Robert Taggart of Frederick, Md., brother of the groom.

Groomsmen were Andrew Taggart of Frederick, Md., brother of the groom, Collin Yarbrough and Robert Englander, both of Raleigh.

Assisting with the wedding were Ginger Yarbrough and Kathryn Englander.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at River Dunes Harbor Club on Grace Harbor in Oriental.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to Antigua.

The bride graduated from Meredith College and is employed by Duke Cancer Center.

The bridegroom attended N.C. State University and is employed by Intelligent Electronics.

They plan to live in Raleigh.
