Teacher sentenced in sex offense case

On Tuesday, a Jones County physical science teacher who was charged with nine felonies was sentenced to 45 days in prison, probation and a $10,000 fine in Lenoir County Superior Court.

On June 10th, Shebana Rajput, 36, of Aaron Johnson Lane in Kinston, was charged with eight counts of sexual activity with a student and one count of sex offense with a student.

According to a press release, Jones County authorities contacted the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office May 23 about an investigation of a sexual assault by a teacher with a student.
