Tickets are now on sale for a fundraiser that will have community leaders in Carteret County dancing to support the county’s schools.
Dancing with OUR Stars will be held 6:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Crystal Coast Civic Center to benefit Communities In Schools of Carteret County, an organization that supports students, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Modeled after the popular television show Dancing with the Stars, the local event combines dancing by local celebrities with the tastes of some of the county’s favorite restaurants.
Local stars were offered dance lessons from the Coastal Carolina Ballroom in Morehead City and will dance with the partner of their choice to a brief, choreographed piece of music.
Local stars include Karma Rodholm (Health Promotion Services), Catherine Warren (Atlantic Elementary School), Alan Shelor (Alan Shelor Real Estate), Dan Novey (Superintendent, Carteret County Public Schools), Dr. Denny Lawrence (Lawrence Family Dentistry), Clinton Montford (West Carteret High School), Darley Collins (Crystal Coast Now), Trace Cooper (mayor of Atlantic Beach), Patrick Conneely (Chick-Fil-A), Chris Johnson (Intimate Bridal), Cindi Hamilton (The History Place), Buddy Bengel (Morehead City Marlins), Lisa Pelletier Harman (The Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation), Louise Hughes (retired Morehead City Parks & Recreation director) and Janet Ladenburger (Christian Focus Magazine).
