Davenport-Parchman

Emily Anne Davenport of Kinston and Robert Adam Parchman of Burnsville were united in marriage at 2 p.m. Aug. 28, 2010, at Tanglewood Church of God in Kinston. The Rev. Allen Stocks was the officiating minister.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Hoyt Davenport and Patsy Davenport of Kinston. She is the granddaughter of Marie Smith of Cove City; Bill and Ruth Sinclair of Southhaven, Miss.; step-grandmother Clarice Pollock Davenport of Kinston and the late William Hoyt Davenport Sr.; and the late Dorothy Taylor Davenport, who lived in Kinston.

A 2006 graduate of North Lenoir High School, she received a Bachelor of Science in construction engineering and management from North Carolina State University’s College of Engineering in 2010. 

The groom is the son of Robert Parchman and Charlotte Parchman of Pikeville. He is the grandson of Helen Warrick Collins of Goldsboro and the late Hoover Collins, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Parchman, who lived in Pikeville.

A 2005 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, he is a 2009 magna cum laude graduate of NCSU’s College of Design with a Bachelor of Industrial Design. He is an industrial designer with Altec Inc. in Burnsville.

Following a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple will reside in Burnsville.

The bride wore a strapless, white taffeta pick-up gown with a beaded metallic lace bodice featuring an inverted V-empire and lace-up back. The sweep train was worn in a French bustle during the reception.

She wore a headband covered with rhinestones and a center flower embellished with an attached Russian tulle blusher, accented with sprays of feathers.

The bride wore her step-grandmother’s dinner ring and carried a hand-tied bouquet of red, white and pink gerbera daisies accented with white calla lilies, lime green pompoms, bold greenery mixed with soft textures of green lady’s mantle, with sprigs of onion grass and solidago.

Maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Kristen Taylor Davenport of Kinston.

Bridesmaids were Emily Caitlyn Brown and Amanda Kay Scarborough, both of Kinston, and Heather Grace Causey of Grifton.

The groom’s father served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Floydie Ray Harris Jr. of Goldsboro, Cory James Taylor of Burnsville and Michael Eugene Wade of Pikeville.

Sterling Collins Thigpen of Goldsboro was the usher.

Music was provided by Phil Huffman, pianist and vocalist.

The wedding was directed by Vickie Howell.

Register attendant was Charity Leigh Rhodes. Program attendants were Jennifer Nicole Hawkins of Greenville and Jessica Lauren Hawkins of Cove City.

 

Reception/parties

Following the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride’s parents at Falling Creek Country Club. Guests were greeted by the bride’s aunt and uncle, Bill and Carol Thompson of Charlotte.  Teresa Rickert of Garner served cake. The reception was directed by Debbie Hawkins, Michelle Moore and Johnnie Hawkins.

On July 9, an engagement party was given by the bride’s parents at their home.

On July 10, a bridal shower was given by the groom’s aunts, Darlene Thigpen and Joyce White, at Salem Hall in Goldsboro.

On July 24, a Pampered Chef party was given by the bride’s aunts — Debbie Hawkins, Michelle Moore and Johnnie Hawkins — at the Moore home in New Bern.

Aug. 6-8, a bachelorette weekend was given by Emily Brown, Mandy Scarborough, Heather Causey, Leigh Rhodes and Kristen Davenport at the Brown’s beach home in Morehead City.

On Aug. 14, a fishing trip/cookout was given by the groom’s best man for the groom and his groomsmen.

On Aug. 21, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was given by Wanda Scarborough and Mandy Scarborough at The Picnic Basket in Kinston.

On Aug. 27, a rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents at The Neusiok Club in Kinston.

On the morning of the wedding, a bridal brunch was hosted by Clarice Davenport, Carol Thompson and Teresa Rickert at the Davenport home in Kinston.
