Fish fry fundraiser

Community Prevention Services will sponsor a Fish Fry fundraiser today20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rose Brothers parking lot, located on Onslow Drive in Jacksonville.

Plates are $7. Delivery is available for orders of 10 or more.

Fall basketball games

The Special Olympics of Onslow County will hold its 2009 Fall Basketball games at 9 a.m. today20 at the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Center.

Festival of Trees

The annual Festival of Trees event, sponsored by Onslow Caregivers to help meet the needs of home health and hospice patients, will be held this weekend.

The event will be at the American Legion Building from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Satruday21; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday22 and, for schools and seniors only, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday23. Admission is $1.

The Carteret County Arts and Crafts Coalition will host its annual Holiday Show and Sale beginning Sunday 22 at 4024 Arendell Street ni Morehead City.

Fashion show benefit

There’s still time to purchase tickets for the annual Healing Hearts through Hope Fashion Show & Luncheon benefiting the Carteret County Domestic Violence Program.

The event will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday22 at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City. It will feature a silent auction as well as lunch provided by Floyd’s 1921, dessert by Alex and Brett’s, sushi appetizers from California Roll, coffee from Panera Bread and much more.

Other highlights of the afternoon include fashions from a variety of local stores modeled by the “Angels of Mercy” from Carteret General Hospital; shag dancing; recognition of the Carteret County Council for Women’s Distinguished Women award winners; and a tribute to this year’s luncheon honoree, the late Taylor Hyman.

Concepts Jewelers will be on hand with a display of jewelry and the Carteret County Quilter’s Guild will raffle one of its quilts. The event will also feature a mimosa table and a 50/50 cash drawing.
