Prosser-Southerland

Mary Frances Prosser and Andrew Mebane Southerland were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008, at the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, S.C. The Revs. Timothy Glenn Register and J. Bryan Boyd officiated.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Leslie Ted Prosser of Asheville and Eleanor Karanne Campbell of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Julian Floyd Prosser, who lived in Milledgeville, Ga., and Mary Frances Campbell of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., and the late Charles Howell Campbell.

The bride attended the University of North Carolina, and the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law and the Lundy Fetterman School of Business at Campbell University. She is the assistant general counsel of the University of Virginia Health Services Foundation.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Isaac Brown Southerland of Morehead City. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Deyo Southerland, who lived in Kinston, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Junius Mebane Andrews, who lived in Roseboro and White Lake.

The groom attended North Carolina State University and the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. He is a resident physician in the Department of Neurology with the University of Virginia Health System.

Following a honeymoon to Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Charlottesville, Va., with their Miniature Schnauzer, Dottie.

Jamie Miller Woglom served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Martha Bohannon Bullock of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Erin Thompson Collins of Wilmington; Kellee Schreiner McGahey of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; Morgan Clare Stephenson of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and Suzanne Shoaf Ward of Raleigh.

Taylor Grace Register of Garland and Taylor Ann Ward of Raleigh served as flower girls.

The groom's father was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Robert Barryhill Adams III and James Drake Brinkley, both of Raleigh; Matthew Cummings Beasley of Wilmington; James Eric Layton of Charleston, S.C.; Timothy Matthew Register of Garland; John Isaac Southerland of Birmingham, Ala., brother of the groom; and Thomas Edgar Stroud Jr. of Greenville.

Ushers were Thomas Warthen Douglass of Apex and Justin Evan Prosser of Orlando, Fla., both brothers of the bride.

David Scott Fincher of Fayetteville, the groom's cousin, was the ring bearer.

Meredith Holcomb Edgerton and Jenny Patterson Southerland were program attendants. Alonzo Clay Edwards III of Wilmington and Tana Louise Hall of Greenville offered readings during the ceremony.

Bagpipe music was provided by Peter Armstrong for the processional and Voices of Deliverance offered music during and after the ceremony.

Reception/parties

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents gave a reception on the grounds of the Plantation.

On March 22, cocktails and a buffet supper were given by the bride's grandmother at her home on Lookout Mountain, Tenn.

On March 29, a luncheon was given by the matron of honor and her mother, Nancy Miller, at Second Empire Restaurant in Raleigh.

On March 29, a stock-the-bar shower was given by friends of the couple at Foster's Saloon in Raleigh.

On June 14, an engagement party was given by friends of the groom's parents at the Maritime Museum in Beaufort.

On Sept. 4, a Low Country Boil was given by Mr. and Mrs. Ted Prosser at Isle of Palms.

On Sept. 5, the bride's grandmother gave a bridesmaids' luncheon at the Old Village Post House in Old Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The groomsmen enjoyed a golf outing at Patriot's Point. Following the day's festivities, the groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at the Harbour Club in downtown Charleston, S.C.
