Unappreciative graduation

This is an open letter to all Havelock Middle School eighth graders who graduated today.

You deserved so much more for the three years you spent at Havelock Middle School.

You should have been able to walk to the front, shake hands with either the principal or asst principal and take your diploma back to your seat. You should have had that moment to yourself, you deserved it, you earned it , and I'm sorry that the administration of Havelock Middle School denied you it.

Yes I know that the principal had something going on that made it so he could not attend your graduation , obviously there was no Plan B .

For you to just be called by name, stand up with another group and then sit down as a culmination of your tour at Havelock Middle School is just plain wrong.

I have seen Kindergarten Graduations that had more pomp and circumstance then the one I just attended.

Does the administration of Havelock Middle School really think they did those students justice?

But it is too late now, it is in the books. All they have now is a memory , and most likely a bitter one.

So to all of you who gave your best the the last three years ....I shake your hand , I say good job, I pat you on the back as I hand you your diploma, I watch you walk to your seat clutching your diploma and sit back down to the adoration of everyone, because this is YOUR moment.

Raymond Sterling, Havelock
