CBP seizes 26 pounds of cocaine at Hidalgo-Reynosa Bridge

The Monitor

HIDALGO – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized approximately 26 pounds of cocaine at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge Sunday, authorities said.

A narcotic detector dog alerted officers to a 2007 Honda Accord, where they found 11 packages of cocaine hidden within the car’s firewall area – the insulated area that seals off the fuel tank from the dashboard and interior of a car. The cocaine had an estimated street value of $835,000, CBP spokesmen Felix Garza said.

The driver, Juan Carlos Jordan Cano, 38, a Mexican citizen from Guadalajara, Jal., was arrested on federal drug charges. Two other passengers, both family members to Jordan Cano, were released and later returned to Mexico.
