Kennedy Home runaways found in Jacksonville

Editor's note: Due to incorrect information supplied to a reporter at The (Kinston) Free Press, the agency that picked up the teens was misidentified in an earlier version of this article. The article has been corrected.

Two juveniles who fled from a home in Kinston were found today in Onslow County.

Samantha Taylor, 15 and Timothy Crandle, 17 fled Kennedy Memorial Home in Kinston on Nov. 9.

The two were apprehended by the Onslow County Sheriff's Department during a traffic stop, said Capt. James Oldenburg of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.

Oldenburg said Crandle was in the custody of the Onslow County Department of Social Services and is being charged with misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Taylor is being returned to her parents in Lenoir County.

At this time, it is not known where or with whom Crandle and Taylor stayed during the time they were missing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Kennedy Memorial Home opened its Kinston campus in 1914. The site serves as a Baptist Children’s Home, one of 14 located throughout the state.
