The eggs-traordinary race

Havelock

Three thousand plastic eggs were sought out and snapped up in under three minutes Saturday as kids took part in Havelock’s annual Easter egg hunt at Havelock City Park.

Children were divided into three age groups before the hunt, and they filled their baskets with eggs containing chocolate, candy and — in a few cases — prize vouchers redeemable for special treats from the Easter Bunny himself.

Before the hunt, hundreds of kids and their parents flocked to the Havelock Senior Center for the first-ever Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. The pancake and sausage breakfast was a fundraiser for the People Assisting Recreation for Kids to Seniors Foundation, which formed to act as a booster for the city recreation department. The PARKS Foundation is a private, nonprofit group currently seeking members and volunteers.
