Mrs. William Johnston

 

 

Allyson Scott and William Russell Johnston, both of Providence, were united in marriage on April 4, 2009, at Swansboro United Methodist Church in Swansboro. The Rev. Julian Scott and the Rev. John Tyson performed the 5 p.m. ceremony. The wedding was directed by Gwen Jackson. Music was provided by organist/pianist/vocalist, Michael Taylor and trumpeter, Joseph McCreary.

The bride is the daughter of James A. and Marlene Scott of Swansboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Lester and Veronica Gilley and the late Brice and Lillian Scott.

The groom is the son of Richard and Brenda Johnston II of Providence. He is the grandson of the late Richard and Harriett Johnston.

The rehearsal dinner was held at the White Oak River Bistro in Swansboro.

Bridesmaids were Jill Clemmer of Wilson; Kimberly Girdwood and Courtney Leonard, both of Raleigh; and Kristen Whiteley of Bronx, N.Y.

The groom chose his father as his best man. Groomsmen were William Chalfant IV of Charlotte; Julius Johnston IV of New York City; Preston Mahan and Cameron Wallace II, both of Raleigh; and Eryc Whiteley of Bronx, N.Y.

Candle lighters were Eryc Whiteley and Julius Johnston. Register attendant was Terri Booth Gilly and program attendants were Nancy Hardin and Shannon Patton.

The wedding reception was held at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and was directed by Holly Stevens.

The bride graduated from Jacksonville High School, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a BSRN at Duke University Medical Center.

The groom graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School, North Carolina State University and Averette University. He is owner of Johnston Realty Company.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to Costa Rica.

They reside in Providence.
