Bruce and Sherry Wayne and David and Charlene Gennantonio, all of New Bern, announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Gennantonio of New Bern, to Joseph K. Peters III of New Bern.

The bridegroom-elect is the son of the Rev. Joseph and Joyce Peters Jr. of Vinton, Va.

The bride-elect graduated from West Craven High and Pitt Community College and is employed by Pitt Memorial Hospital.

The bridegroom-elect graduated from Grace Christian Academy and Central Carolina Community College and is employed by the Beasley Broadcast Group.

A wedding is planned for Sept. 20, 2008, at Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock.
