Hayes-Vick

Blake Suzanne Hayes and Timothy Simon Vick, both of Kinston, were united in marriage at 5 p.m. May 30, 2009, at the bride's parents' home in Kinston. The Rev. Clint White officiated the ceremony.

Escorted by her step-father, and given in marriage by her step-father and mother, she is the daughter of Mark and Susan Conway of Kinston and the late Bill G. Hayes. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karroll Layden of La Grange, and Cleo Hayes of Wilson and the late Frank Hayes. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ray Foss and the late Mr. and Mrs. Winbourne T. Layden, all of whom lived in La Grange.

A graduate of Kinston High School and Lenoir Community College, she is a registered nurse at Eastern Carolina Physicians, PA.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Vick of Kinston and Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Beasley of Clarksville, Tenn.

He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Hood of Kinston and the late Warren Hargett, and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Vick, all of whom lived in Kinston. He is the great-grandson of the late Gilbert and Mildred Vick and the late Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hill, all of whom lived in Kinston.

A graduate of Kinston High School and Lenoir Community College, he is general manager for Vick's Cleaners.

Following a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Kinston.

The bride wore a diamond white taffeta strapless A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline. Asymmetrical gathers on the bodice and skirt, along with the dropped waistline, were adorned with beadwork. Beaded covered buttons along the back flowed onto the chapel-length train.

Her fingertip veil featured silver and crystal beadwork. She carried long stem calla lilies tied with satin ribbon. She also carried a handkerchief that belonged to her great-grandmother, the late Louie Del Foss.

Matron of honor was the bride's cousin, Brittany B. Smith of Kinston. Maid of honor was the groom's sister, Sydny Vick of Kinston.

The groom's father, Simon Vick, was his son's best man. Groomsmen were the groom's brother, Adam Vick of Kinston, and the bride's brother, Brent Hayes of Wilmington.

Music was provided by Udeshi Hargett, violinist.

The wedding was directed by Brenda Garris.

 

Reception/Parties

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride's parents. Music was provided by Tommy King of Goldsboro.

On Dec. 6, a Christmas shower was given by Wanda Rasor, Brenda Spence and Lisa Hunneke Lewis at the Rasor home.

On March 22, a floating around the house shower was given by Jessica M. Starling, Brittany B. Smith and Lorretta Layden.

On April 17, a pig-picking was given by Mark and Jackie Conway, Wendy and Thomas Riley, Sheree and Scott Stroud, and Brandy and Joanne Rawls at the Conway home.

On May 21, a bridal shower was given by Kim Wade and Kelly Mooring at Eastern Carolina Physicians.

A rehearsal dinner was given by Mr. and Mrs. Simon Vick and Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Beasley at Chef and the Farmer.

A home renovation project was given by Bud and Anne Vick, Mildred Vick Willkinson and family, Laura Vick Dillard, and Betsy Vick Ledger and family.

On May 30, a golf outing was hosted by Mark I. Conway and Brent Hayes.
