Herring-Barwick

Nikki Leigh Herring of Dover and William Steven Barwick of Kinston were married at 2 p.m. June 21, 2008, at Grace Baptist Church in Kinston. Bill Bradley was the officiating minister.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Gerald and Sandra Herring of Dover. She is the granddaughter of Frances Herring of Kinston and the late Leon Herring, and the late Harry and Louise Price, all of whom lived in Kinston.

A 2002 graduate of South Lenoir High School, she is a financial services officer with the State Employees Credit Union.

The groom is the son of Billy and Carol Barwick of Kinston. He is the grandson of Essie Faye Barwick of Kinston and the late Bill Barwick, Harold and Margaret Hardy of Kinston, and the late Leon Lewis.

A 2002 South Lenoir graduate, he is a fire fighter with the City of Kinston.

Following a wedding trip to Emerald Isle, the couple is living in Kinston.

The bride wore a strapless A-line gown of satin with a pleated bodice embellished with crystal and pearl beading. The bodice back featured satin covered buttons and a chapel train.

Her double tiered, elbow-length veil featured corded satin edging and flowed from a silver comb with a cluster of crystals and pearls. She carried a bouquet of mixed pink, white and peach roses, wrapped with a satin white ribbon.

The bride's sister, Cassie Rogers of Kinston, was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were the groom's sister, Kristen Stroud, Sheri Williams and Ashley Ledford, all of Kinston; and Amy Beverage of Trenton.

The groom's niece, Hayden Stroud of Kinston, was the flower girl.

The groom's father was his son's best man.

Groomsmen were the groom's brother-in-law, Linnie Ray Stroud, Zack Bumgarner and Stephen Ledford, all of Kinston; and Josh Barwick of Lexington, S.C.

The groom's nephew, Riley Stroud of Kinston, was miniature groomsman. The bride's nephew, Logen Rogers of Kinston, was the ring bearer.

Music was provided by Alan Armstrong on bagpipes and Trey Williams.

Sara Tyndall and Kathy Bumgarner directed the wedding.

The bride's cousin, Jaimie Howard, was the register attendant.

Reception/parties

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride's parents at Grace Baptist Church.

Cindy Turnage, the bride's cousin, made and served the wedding cake. Gail Howard was the wedding coordinator.

On Jan. 12, a Christmas shower was given by Becky Smith and Pat Pate at the Smith home.

On March 16, a bridal shower was given by the bride's family and friends at Grace Baptist Church.

On March 29, a bridal shower was given by the groom's family and friends at Armenia Christian Church.

On June 6, a bachelorette party was given by Cassie Rogers at the Outback Steakhouse in Greenville.

On June 6, a bachelor party was given by the groomsmen at the beach.

On June 7, a lingerie shower was given by Cassie Rogers at the bride's home.

On June 20, a rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's parents at Grace Baptist Church.
