JPD launches online crime reporting

Jacksonville residents no longer have to leave the comfort of their home or business to report crimes that don’t require an investigative follow-up or involve suspects, according to the Jacksonville Police Department.

Through the Web site citizens can report:

  • Simple larceny or shoplifting, value under $1,000
  • Larceny of gasoline
  • Property damage, value under $1,000
  • Defrauding an innkeeper
  • Harassing/threatening/obscene phone calls
  • Simple assault that is non-domestic
  • Indecent exposure
  • Lost items

Once submitted, the reports are given a case number and forwarded to a supervisor, according to the department.

Residents can also use the system to conduct other business, including completing the robbery and burglary alarm form.
