Joan Lloyd Varga and Philip Considine, both of New Bern, were united in marriage on May 2, 2009, at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Ernest Ruede officiating.
The bride was given in marriage by her son, Joseph L. Varga.
Nuptial music was provided by vocalist Philip Evancho and organist Cindy Turco.
The matrons of honor were Frances Maddox of Woodbridge, Va., and Rosemary Dickerson of Fayetteville, sisters of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Vicki Jackson of New Bern and Pamela Hultin of Raleigh, daughters of the bride.
McKenzie Jackson and Olivia Hultin were the flower girls.
Best man was Richard Considine of Freehold, N.J., son of the groom.
Groomsman was Tanner Jackson of New Bern.
A reception, hosted by the bride and groom, was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
Assisting with the reception were Alberta Barnick, Sadie Stepnoski, Marge Pederson, Marie Johnson, Ann Tetreaut and Rose Hulse, all of New Bern.
The couple took a honeymoon trip to Las Vegas, Nev.
The bride graduated from Occuquan District High School, Va., and retired from Craven Community College as the executive secretary to the president.
The bridegroom is retired from the City of New York.
The couple will reside in New Bern.
