Andy and Carole Thomas of Roxboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Thomas, to Emmett Perdue, both of Raleigh.

The bridegroom-elect is the son of Gov. Beverly Eaves Perdue and Bob Eaves of Raleigh and New Bern, and the late Gary R. Perdue.

The bride-elect graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and the University of Alabama and is employed by the North Carolina Sentencing and Policy Advisory Commission.

The bridegroom-elect graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University and is employed by Mulkey Engineers and Consultants.

A wedding is planned for Sept. 26, 2009, on Ocracoke Island.
