UPDATE: Police identify body found along roadway

Police have identified the body of Florida man found in a roadside ditch in Morehead City early Saturday morning.
Ernest McNair, 52, is believed to have been living a Morehead City hotel, police said.
“We don’t expect foul play right now,” said MCPD Lt. Trent Johnson, adding that he expected an autopsy to be conducted Monday morning.
McNair’s body was found along Bridges Street Extension near Friendly Road by a man taking a walk at around 7:30 a.m. Police received a call of a suspicious person and when officers arrived they found the person was man who had found the body and was trying to flag down motorists, Johnson said.
Morehead City police have not released the name of a man found dead along a roadway Saturday morning.
The man’s body was found along Bridges Street Extension near Friendly Road by a passerby around 7:30 a.m. Police received a call of a suspicious person and when officers arrived they found the person was the passerby who had found the body and was trying to flag down motorists, according to WCTI-12.
At this point, police do not consider the death a homicide.
