Man still missing
The New Bern Police Department is looking for a missing, endangered man.
On Saturday evening, police requested that a statewide Silver Alert be issued for Stan Safranski, and he was still missing late Sunday.
Safranski, 33, was last seen at the Good Shepherd Home on West Street in New Bern at about 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Safranski, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment, has a history of walking away from the home and was found in Washington, N.C., in March following a similar incident, a police spokesman said.
Safranski is described as a white man, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds. He has brown eyes, brown medium-length hair and a full beard.
Anyone with information about Safranski's whereabouts, or who believes they may have seen him, are asked to call New Bern Police at (252) 633-2020.
The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons is the only agency that can activate a Silver Alert and does so only at the request of an investigating law enforcement agency after determining that there is sufficient identifying data to justify it.
The center and the investigating law enforcement agency then work together to notify the surrounding community about the missing person.
