Eleanor Lauren Myers of Chapel Hill and Jesse Coleman Spinks of Oxford, Miss., were united in marriage Dec. 31, 2011, on the lawn of the Marriott Marco Island Resort in Marco Island, Fla.
The Rev. Bob Mitchell was the officiating minister.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Dan Myers of Kinston. She is the granddaughter of Eleanor Roberts of La Grange and the late J.W. Roberts, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Myers, who lived in Kinston.
A 2001 graduate of Arendell Parrott Academy in Kinston, the bride received a Bachelor of Arts in biology from UNC in 2005. She is a pharmaceutical representative with Alcon Labs.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Spinks of Clarksdale, Miss. He is the grandson of Janice Spinks of Clarksdale, Miss., and the late Jesse Spinks, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Grubb, who lived in Boydsville, Ark.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi, he received a B.A. in accounting in 2010 and a master’s degree in taxation in 2011. He is a tax accountant with Hughes, Pittman, Gupton, LLP.
Following their wedding trip, the couple lives in Raleigh.
The bride wore a strapless A-line gown of Brescia organza with a sweetheart neckline and corset closure. An embellished lace motif of pearls and crystals accented the asymmetrical dropped bodice.
Her princess-style tiara was encrusted with Swarovski crystals and rhinestones. She carried an all white bouquet, featuring a combination of hydrangeas, roses, calla lilies and cymbidium orchids, accented by her grandmother’s heirloom brooches.
Matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Leah Leggett of Houston.
Bridesmaids were Molly Taylor of Kinston, Amy Whitfield of La Grange and Neta Roberts of Winterville, all cousins of the bride; Caroline Roberts of La Grange; Kendra Burrell of Wilmington; Ali Page of Chapel Hill; Lauren Gray and Laura Dutterer, both of Raleigh; Ashley Allen of Madison, Miss.; and Meghan Marceno of Birmingham, Ala.
The bride’s niece, McKenzie Leggett of Houston, was flower girl.
The groom’s father served as his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were the groom’s brothers, Joey Spinks of Jonesboro, Ark., and Bobby Spinks of Clarksdale, Miss.; Mark Noland and Tony Artici, both of Clarksdale, Miss.; Paschal Holcomb of Aspen, Colo.; Robert Allen of Madison, Miss.; Nick Marceno of Birmingham, Ala.; Josh Peal of Memphis, Tenn.; and Will Finn of Oxford, Miss.
The groom’s nephew, Reese Spinks of Clarksdale, Miss., was ring bearer.
Wedding music was provided by Dominick Buonartano.
The wedding was directed by Carrie Darling. The bride’s cousin, John Roberts, read scripture.
Register attendants were the bride’s cousins, Layla and Wrenn McCrae Whitfield.
Program attendants were the groom’s nieces, Bella and Georgia Spinks.
Reception/parties
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception in the ballroom of the Marco Island Resort Hotel.
On Aug. 13, an engagement party was given by family and friends of the bride at the Dunes Club in Atlantic Beach.
On Oct. 16, a bridal shower was given by friends and family of the bride at the Kinston Country Club.
On Oct. 21, a couples shower was given by friends of the couple at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen in Oxford, Miss.
On Nov. 5, an engagement party was given by friends and family of the groom at the Hopson Plantation in Clarksdale, Miss.
On Dec. 29, a cocktail welcome reception was given by the parents of the bride at the Marriott Marco Island Resort.
On Dec. 30, a bridesmaids’ spa morning and brunch was given by the bride’s grandmother, Eleanor Roberts, and the bride’s mother, Sue Myers, at Marco Island. That evening, the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner cruise aboard the Marco Island Princess.
