Veterans parade in Morehead City Saturday

The Carteret County Veterans Council will host its annual Veterans Day Parade Saturday in Morehead City.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. and will travel down Arendell Street from 17th Street to 5th Street near the entrance to the state port.

Rodolfo “Rudy” Hernandez of Fayetteville, a Korean War veteran and recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, will serve as grand marshal for the event along with Maj. Gen. James Flock, commanding general, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Cherry Point.

The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band will be among the high school and community bands marching. The lineup will also include military and veterans’ organizations; Gold Star Mothers; color guards and military equipment; the Shriners; motorcycle clubs and antique cars; community and scout groups.
