Strickland-Turik

Annette Webb Strickland of Kinston and Dr. Scott A. Turik of Kenly were united in marriage at 3 p.m.  April 25, 2009, at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in Kinston. The Rev. A. Michael Singer officiated.

Given in marriage by her father and her sons, Caleb and Kyle Strickland, the bride is the daughter of Davis and Helen Webb of Kinston. 

A graduate of Kinston High School, the bride graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan with a degree in criminal justice, and received her Jurist Doctorate from North Carolina Central University School of Law's evening program. She is a practicing attorney and partner in the firm of Wooten & Strickland, PLLC in Kinston.

The groom is the son of Andrew and Marvel Turik of Kinston.

He is a graduate of Arendell Parrott Academy, North Carolina State University and Emory University School of Dentistry. He operates his own dental practice in Kenly.

The couple's honeymoon destination was Grand Case, Saint Martin, French West Indies.

The bride's gown of silk shantung featured crystal beading sprinkled onto the strapless neckline. Draped silk cascaded over the body of the gown, meeting the contoured waistline and fit and flare bottom, which fell into a chapel-length train.

Matron of honor was the Honorable Beth Heath of Kinston. Bridesmaids were the bride's sister, Donna McDonald of Kinston; Belinda Etheridge of Kenly; Terry Yeh of Goldsboro; and Laura Turik of Middlesex, the groom's sister-in-law. Junior bridesmaid was the groom's niece, Abigail Turik of Middlesex.

            The groom's father was his son's best man.

Groomsmen were the groom's brother, Dr. Mark Turik of Middlesex; Ken Etheridge of Kenly; the groom's nephew, Andrew Turik of Middlesex; and Dal Wooten of Kinston.

The ring bearer was the groom's nephew, Alex Turik of Middlesex.

            Antionette Anglin, organist, and Greta Gallo, soloist, both of Kinston, provided music for the service. Frances Herring of Kinston directed the wedding.  Angie Johnson and Elizabeth Wynne, both of Kinston, were register and program attendants, respectively.

Jesse Shimer of Kinston was the acolyte. P. C. Barwick Jr. of Kinston read scripture.

 

             Reception/parties

Following the ceremony, a reception and dance was held at the Kinston Country Club.

On June 14, 2008, the Honorable Beth Heath and Bennett Wynne gave an engagement party in Kinston.  

On April 5, 2008, Dr. Mark Turik and Laura Turik gave an engagement dinner in Middlesex.  

Special dinners were given by Ken and Belinda Etheridge, Roger Cooper and Richard Gleason of Kenly, and David and Michele Grady of Kenly. 

On April 17, a dinner for the bride and bridesmaids was given by Terry Yeh in Goldsboro.

A wedding morning brunch was given by Dr. John and Penn Flournoy of Morehead City, and Mrs. James Pringle, Fred and Anneliese Hunneke, Jay and Mary Ellen Dawson, Dr. Victor and Emily Hartzog, and Dr. Charles and Marion Classen, all of Kinston, at the Classen home.

              The Friday evening rehearsal dinner was given at the Kinston Country Club by the groom's parents.
