Batey-Barfield
Wendy Michelle Batey of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Joshua Brandon Barfield of Seven Springs were married at 2 p.m. April 5, 2008, at Cataract Falls in the Great Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. Larry Freeman officiated the ceremony.
The bride was escorted by her 5-year-old son, Noah, and given in marriage by her 11-year-old son, Bryce. She is the daughter of Deborah and Wade Christian of Nashville, Tenn. She is the granddaughter of Jesse and Dwight Shelton of Erwin, Tenn.
A graduate of Greenbrier High School and the University of Tennessee with a master's degee in business, the bride is employed as a real estate director at Lamar Advertising in Clarksville, Tenn.
The groom is the son of Earlene and Richard Maxwell of Seven Springs and Larry Barfield of Kinston. He is the grandson of the late David and Pearl Heath, who lived in Albertson, the late Marvin Barfield, who lived in Goldsboro, and the late Melba Barfield, who lived in Kinston.
A graduate of North Lenoir High School and Lenoir Community College's Basic Law Enforcement program, the groom is attached to the U.S. Army in Fort Campbell, Ky., as a military police officer.
Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple resides in Oak Grove, Ky.
Deanna Miller of Nashville, Tenn., the bride's sister, was maid of honor.
Brad Barfield of Albertson, the groom's brother, was best man.
