Woodhaven residents advised to boil water

Havelock News

Residents in the Woodhaven subdivision are scheduled to experience periods of low water pressure and outages from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. today.

The reason for the outage in the installation of a new water line at the corner of Woodhaven Drive and Belltown Road. The outage will affect all residents in the Woodhaven area.

The outage and low pressure increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system, according to a release from the city. As a result, the N.C. Division of Environmental Health advises that when water is restored that all residents in the Woodhaven area boil all water for human consumption or use bottled water. Infants below 6 months old and pregnant women should use an alternate water supply.

Havelock Public Services is encouraging residents in the area to conserve water.
