2/8 to return

A group of Marines who had been serving in the Middle East will return to North Carolina this week.

Elements of 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, are scheduled to return to Camp Lejeune on Tuesday following the completion of a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, according to a 2nd Marine Division press release.  The battalion's approximately 1000 Marines and sailors conducted counterinsurgency operations in Helmand province under the command of Lt. Col. Christian Cabaniss.
