Parking restrictions established at school

MOREHEAD CITY — Parking restrictions have been established at a Morehead City school that has become a common parking spot for boaters using a nearby ramp.

The Carteret County Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution at its Tuesday meeting that establishes parking restrictions at Morehead City Elementary School at Camp Glenn. The resolution prohibits the parking of vehicles along the eastern edge of the right-of-way of Glenn Drive on school days between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Signs will indicate the restricted parking areas, and towing will be enforced.

According to attorney Neil Whitford, vehicles with boat trailers and detached boat trailers are parked in the area prior to school hours. This area is used for student drop off and pick up and parent parking throughout the school day.
