No cause for alarm

Havelock News

A malfunction in an alarm system at Cherry Point turned out to be no cause for alarm.

The alarm started going off around 5:35 p.m. Friday and was heard at Cherry Point as well as parts of Havelock, including in the Westbrooke, Ketner Heights and Stonebridge areas as well as along Fontana Boulevard and at Havelock High School.

The Havelock Police Department reported receiving a couple of phone calls on the alarm, which continued to sound until around 7 p.m.

A woman answering phones at Cherry Point's main switchboard said that the alarm was a malfunction and that there was no emergency on the base.
