Carteret man accused of biting off part of another man's ear

A weekend dispute in Carteret County landed a man in jail for biting off part of another man’s ear, authorities said.

David Bryant Turner, 25, of Clinton was arrested by the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony maiming of the ear, according to a news release issued by the sheriff’s office.

Lt. Tom Maulshagen reported that Turner and the 63-year-old victim worked together on a shrimp boat docked at Radio Island. The two men got into an argument Sunday evening, which ended with Turner biting off the lower portion of the victim’s ear.

Turner was placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $25,000 bond.
