Father, daughter face drug charges

A father and daughter in Carteret County were arrested Wednesday on drug charges related to the illegal sale of prescription medication.

Beaufort Police Department arrested Fernie Oscar Simmons, 54, and Crystal Janell Simmons, 24, both of Beaufort, following an undercover operation where 10 oxycontin pills were purchased, a news release said.

Crystal Janell Simmons was charged with sale and delivery of a schedule II controlled substance; possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance; maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance; and simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance.

Fernie Oscar Simmons was charged with sale and delivery of a schedule II controlled substance and possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance.

Crystal Janell Simmons bond was $5,000. Fernie Oscar Simmons bond was $2,500.
