Friday was a festival holiday at Coastal Carolina Regional Airport in New Bern.
About 90 first-graders from nearby Creekside Elementary School sang Christmas carols for a crowd of nearly 100 people at the airport Friday morning.
Some of the students wore colorful holiday clothes, and some sported Santa hats, while others wore antlers. The students were accompanied by four teachers and four teacher assistants.
More area students will sing in the coming days. On Dec. 11, first-graders from Brinson Memorial Elementary School will sing holiday tunes at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the main terminal. On Dec. 14, Oaks Road Elementary School students will sing at 10 a.m.
The Coastal Carolina Regional Airport Christmas float has a busy schedule, beginning Saturday in the 11 a.m. Maysville parade and the 3 p.m. New Bern parade. Sunday, the float will be part of the Trent Woods 3 p.m. parade. Other appearances include the Morehead City and Havelock parades on Dec. 11 and the Pamlico County parade in Bayboro on Dec. 19.
The airport also serves as a drop-off point for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.
