McElraft wins second term in House District 13

Freedom ENC

BEAUFORT - State Rep. Pat McElraft was not favored by Jones County voters Tuesday, but she ran strongly enough in Carteret County to retain her District 13 seat in the North Carolina House.

"I'm just elated and just grateful to the citizens of Carteret County and Jones County who supported me," she said. "It was a tough campaign and I appreciate the citizens for listening to the truth."

McElraft, a Republican from Emerald Isle, defeated Democratic challenger Barbara Garrity-Blake by a 21,908 to 16,635 vote, according to unofficial results. She returns for a second term. Garrity-Blake of Gloucester led Jones County voting 2,742 to 2,259 and also had strong support in the Down East precincts of Carteret County.
