Onslow County under tornado warning

Onslow County is under a tornado warning until 4:45 p.m.

Onslow County reas affected include Pumpkin Center, Piney Green, New River Air Station, Jacksonville, Half Moon and Camp Lejeune

According to the National Weather Service, if you are in the path of a tornado:

• Move indoors and to the lowest level of the building into an interior hallway or room such as a closet
• Use blankets or pillows to cover your body.
• Stay away from windows.
• If driving do no seek shelter under a highway overpass.
• Evacuate mobile homes or vehicles and get inside a shelter. If there is no shelter lie flat in the nearest ditch or other low spot and cover your head with your hands.
