Participants raise over $57,865 in Relay for Life
TRENTON - Jones County Relay for Life participants raised at least $57,865.02 this year for the American Cancer Society, organizers said Saturday.
The county held its Relay event Friday night and Saturday morning. More than 200 people participated on 22 fund-raising teams.
Three teams from Eastern Carolina Internal Medicine raised the most money, according to the cancer society's Web site. The teams raised $10,164.64, $7,814.33 and 7,444.33. The Jones County Community Development Corporation was fourth with $3,968.90.
DeShean Cooper, the county Relay coordinator, raised $3,952, the most by one person. Shevel Hunt came in second by raising $3,237. Susan White was third with $2,500, and JoAnn Hughes was fourth after raising $1,894.
