Scratch-off ticket wins $100,000 for Cove City man

Sun Journal

Brian Davis of Cove City received a $100,000 surprise at the end of February when he scratched off a Fabulous Five ticket.

Davis told North Carolina Lottery officials that he had never bought the Fabulous Five ticket before.

Davis was having lunch with a friend and saw that his friend had some lottery tickets in a shirt pocket.

Davis asked which game his friend had bought and Davis found out it was the Fabulous Five scratch-off.

Later that day, Davis stopped at the Jasper Mini Mart on N.C. 55 West in Cove City and bought a few of the Fabulous Five tickets.

Lottery officials said the last ticket he scratched was worth the top prize of $100,000.

Davis called his wife, Tracy, to give her the news. She did not believe him.

The two plan to use some of the winnings on an already planned trip out west.

The couple could not be reached for comment Monday.
