An Onslow County deputy was involved in a weekend wreck on Old Folkstone Road in Sneads Ferry.

The deputy was not injured in the single-car wreck, which occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. Sunday, Sheriff Ed Brown said Monday morning.

According to a Monday morning press release from the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, the deputy, whose name has not yet been released, lost control of his patrol vehicle in a curve on Old Folkstone Road.

The deputy was responding to a fight at an area convenience store, Brown said.

Sheriff Brown is conducting an internal investigation of the wreck, which was initially investigated by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
