Two familes robbed at gunpoint
by JON DAWSON
STAFF WRITER
Between Friday and Sunday, two familes were robbed at gunpoint in Hookerton.
According to Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith, on Friday night a family on William Hooker Drive in Hookerton walked in on three black males that had broken into their home. The suspects were armed with guns and stole an undetermined amount of money.
On Sunday night, a family on Third Street, Hookerton, were awakened to find three black males with guns robbing them. Again, the three suspects stole an undetermined amount of money.
Smith said that in both cases the families robbed were hispanic, the three suspects were wearing masks, and both crimes occurred at approximately midnight. Smith said the suspects escaped on foot in both instances.
"It seems that the suspects are targeting hispanic families," Smith said. "We haven't had a crime like this in Hookerton since First Citizen's bank was robbed in 2006. It's usually a nice quiet place."
