Man accused of assaulting 5 people with car

A Jacksonville man has been accused of assaulting two adults and three children with his car, according to warrants.

Jerry L. Akins, Jr., 32, of Fieldstone Road, was charged Thursday by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill with a minor present.

Akins is accused of using his 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue to run another driver and four passengers off of the road, according to warrants. Three of the passengers were children, aged 3 years, 18 months and five months.

Akins is being held without bond.
