The North Topsail Beach Board of Aldermen will reconvene tonight at 6:30 p.m. to continue discussions on the town's 2009-10 budget.
Three different proposals failed concerning a tax revenue split between the General Fund and the Beach Fund.
Alderman Richard Peters proposed to increase the tax levy .01 cent to .15 cents, and split the levy, with .13 cents going into the General Fund and .02 cents into the Beach Fund. His motion failed 3-2 with Aldermen Richard Farley, Robert Swantek and Mayor Pro Tem Larry Hardison voting against and Dan Tuman and Peters voting in favor.
Alderman Swantek proposed the tax levy remain as it was in 2008-2009 budget, with .13 cents going into the General Fund and .01 cent into the Beach Fund. That vote failed 3-2. With Aldermen Tuman, Peters, and Hardison voted against, while Aldermen Farley and Swantek voted in favor.
Alderman Dan Tuman proposed the tax levy of .14 cents remain as it was in the 2008-09 budget, but having .12 cents going into the General Fund and .02 cents into the Beach Fund. That vote also failed 3-2 with Aldermen Farley, Swantek and Hardison voting against and Aldermen Tuman and Peters voting in favor.
The meeting will be held at Town Hall, located at 2008 Loggerhead Court.
